Terms of Use
Talk to us now - (201) 000-0000These conditions cover universal-appliances.com and every repair Universal Appliance carries out. Read these pages or put an appliance in our hands, and this is the agreement you are operating under.
1. Taking these terms on
Requesting a visit, or simply using this website, puts you under this document and our Privacy Policy at the same time. If either one does not suit you, the remedy is straightforward: stop reading and hire a different repair company.
2. The work we take on
Our technicians diagnose and repair major appliances where they stand, in houses and in commercial premises alike. That takes in cooking equipment – ranges, wall ovens, cooktops – along with refrigerators and freezers, dishwashers, laundry pairs, ice machines, wine storage and plumbed-in coffee systems, whether freestanding or fitted behind a cabinet panel. The territory is two towns, Paramus and Teaneck. Any individual appointment still hangs on three practical matters: somebody on the crew being available, the part being possible to source, and the appliance being reachable without risk to the person working on it.
3. Appointments and arrival windows
A booking reserves a span of time for your arrival, not a point on the clock. Route 4 and Route 17 do what they do, an earlier call can open up into something larger than it first looked, and weather does the rest. When your window moves, you hear it from us. An adult of 18 or over needs to remain at the address for the length of the visit.
4. Diagnosis, and how the price is arrived at
Every visit carries a service call fee, and the amount is said out loud at booking rather than on your doorstep. Accept the repair we recommend and the fee is subtracted from the total. Decline it and the fee stands, because the drive happened, the hour happened and the testing happened regardless.
One figure covers the whole repair, and that figure only exists once the appliance has been on a meter. Where taking the machine apart uncovers something further, everything halts there until the extra work has your yes.
5. Invoices and payment
Payment is due at the point the job is complete, unless a different arrangement was put in writing first. Whichever payment methods are posted on the day of your appointment are the ones we can take. An unpaid balance may end up with a collection agency, so far as New Jersey law allows that.
6. Warranty, in outline
Parts we supply and the labor of fitting them both carry written coverage. Its length, its boundaries and the way a claim is made are set out on our warranty page and again in our refund and cancellation policy.
7. The state of the appliance, and the jobs we turn down
Machines are worked on as they are found. A few get refused: one that is unsafe as it stands, one somebody else has already modified during an earlier repair, one carrying flood or rodent damage, or one whose only remaining need is a part nobody builds any more. Where the sensible answer is to leave a machine alone, you get that answer in plain words, and the invoice stops at the service call fee.
Pulling a fitted appliance forward out of its opening is never a risk-free operation. Millwork, floor finishes and whatever is plumbed or wired in behind the machine are all in the way, and precautions go with that job every time. The risk we cannot carry is the one that was in the house before we arrived: a soft floorboard under the machine, a cabinet run held together by paint, a shutoff valve nobody has turned in twenty years. If one of those lets go while a unit is being moved, that is not something this company can answer for.
8. Access to the machine and safety at the address
Clearing a path to the appliance is your side of the arrangement, and so is mentioning a hazard you already know about – a step that gives, a dog, a smell of gas, a basement that takes water. A technician who judges the property or the machine genuinely unsafe is free to leave, and the service call fee is still owed for that trip.
9. What the writing on this site amounts to
Treat everything published on universal-appliances.com as general background. No page promises that a particular problem can be repaired, still less repaired for a particular sum, and any dollar figure shown anywhere is an illustration rather than a quotation. The repairs described are ours to do and not yours: live circuits and gas piping put people in hospital, and there are rules around a good deal of this work in any event.
10. Manufacturer names and marks
Manufacturer names, logos and model designations printed here belong to whoever owns them. They appear for a single purpose, which is to identify equipment this company is able to service. Universal Appliance is an independent repair business. No manufacturer has appointed it, and naming a brand implies neither affiliation with that brand nor endorsement by it.
11. Our own material
The text, layout, photographs and code on universal-appliances.com are the property of Universal Appliance. None of it may be copied or reposted elsewhere without written permission from us.
12. How far our liability goes
New Jersey law sets the outer bound here, and inside it our liability for a repair, or for anything connected with this website, is capped at what you paid us for the job in question. Losses that follow on from a breakdown – spoiled groceries, a kitchen out of action, damage to other property – sit outside that cap unless we were directly negligent. Nothing in this paragraph removes a right the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act gives you, because rights of that kind cannot be signed away.
13. Governing law
This agreement is governed by New Jersey law, and a dispute arising from it belongs in a New Jersey court, state or federal. New Jersey consumer protection law applies to you with full force, and a customer with a grievance about repair work may also take it to the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
14. Changes to these terms
Amendments land on this page from time to time. The job you book is covered by whatever wording was live on the day you booked it.
