(201) 000-0000Kenmore service, diagnosed and repaired on site
A Kenmore is not really a Kenmore. Sears sold the badge and bought the machines, so a Kenmore washer may be a Whirlpool underneath, a refrigerator may be an LG or a Frigidaire, and which one it is depends entirely on the year and the model prefix. Nothing about the repair can proceed sensibly until that question is settled.
Which is why the first digits of the model number matter more than the name on the door. They point back to the builder, and from there a technician knows the platform, the test procedure, the failure pattern and the right part number. Training here runs across the manufacturers that actually made this equipment, and refrigerant handling stays with a Section 608 certified technician. What a diagnosis costs is quoted before a visit is scheduled, and deducted when the machine gets fixed. One price, parts and labor, with the warranty spelled out on paper.
One badge worn since 1927, with three different manufacturers standing behind it depending on the year.

Where Kenmore equipment tends to give trouble
- Model number that matches nothing you can search Kenmore numbering points back to whichever factory built the unit, so identifying the real platform comes before any diagnosis at all. Read us the full number off the tag and most of the guesswork disappears.
- Washer fills normally, then the drum never turns On several of the platforms Kenmore used, the drive motor coupler is a designed wear item, and a sheared one leaves you with a tub of water and no movement. Common repair, predictable part, modest cost.
- Water still standing in the tub after the wash The final pump-out never completed, either because the drain pump has quit or the hose is kinked behind the machine. Left sitting, that water becomes an odor problem in a basement laundry room.
Kenmore repair begins as an identification problem. The badge covers machines built by several different manufacturers across nearly a century, and two units that look alike from the front can share almost nothing inside. Universal Appliance treats the model and serial as the first piece of diagnostic data rather than paperwork, because it decides which service procedure applies, which tests are valid, and which part number will physically fit the machine in your basement.
Straightforward Diagnostics
Once the prefix tells us who built the unit, the visit follows that manufacturer’s procedure rather than a generic checklist. Direct-drive Whirlpool laundry, Frigidaire refrigeration, LG sealed systems and the older Sears-era ranges each behave differently, and each has its own diagnostic mode and its own stored history. A technician trained across those platforms reads the machine on its own terms: coupler condition and motor draw on a washer, defrost circuit and thermistor resistance on a refrigerator, igniter current on a gas range. That is what separates a repair that holds from a run of parts bought on probability.
OEM Parts
Sears no longer sells appliances the way it once did, which worries Kenmore owners more than it should. Because these machines came from major manufacturers, most parts still cross-reference to something very much in production: pumps, couplers, thermistors, defrost heaters, igniters, valves and lid locks among them. The cross-reference only works if the platform has been pinned down correctly, which is the other reason we start there. Some Sears-specific consoles, trim and control boards have genuinely ended their run, and where that is the case you are told, along with whatever remains realistic for the machine.
Deciding Whether an Older Kenmore Earns Its Keep
Plenty of Kenmore equipment around here is long past its warranty and still working properly, because the platforms underneath were built for long service lives. A coupler, a pump, a thermistor or an igniter on a machine like that is money well spent. A cluster of failures at once, or a sealed-system problem on a refrigerator well beyond its expected life, is a different conversation and we will walk through it with you honestly. Either way the charge for diagnosing is deducted when the repair is carried out, and the repair itself carries one price and a written warranty.
Kenmore Machines We Work On
Washers and dryers, dishwashers, ice makers, refrigerators, freezers, ranges in gas and electric, cooktops, wall ovens and microwave hoods, whoever the actual builder turns out to be. Approve the estimate and the diagnosis is not charged on top, because that amount already sits inside the repair price.
